world

The colourless sky contrasting the comfy, homey interior of a tanning salon, with orange lights,

a big neon open sign, and lots of bits-and-bobs lining the wall.

The October walk at 7:30 PM, my double shadow and how it is keeping me company,

the crunchy leaves on the ground and the absence of stars.

Someone’s little square backyard, the small porch light left on,

and the way it escapes through the cracks of the fence.

A cafe late at night, full of people, a chai frappe in hand, and a couple playing cards.

Halloween downtown and all alone, a little apartment with nine windows, one is lit and covered in

butterflies.

The stars have come out.

One red flower clinging on to a dead stem.

An attempt at decoration: A little succulent plant sitting in a small pot all by itself, on a windowsill

where a window should not be.

The bus-stop at 11:07 PM, a giant milkshake (that I will later spill all over my bedsheets),

the shelter's flickering light and the safety of girls.
